Monopoly is a classic board game where players buy, trade, and develop properties to become the wealthiest player. It was originally based on The Landlord's Game and has been published by Parker Brothers (now Hasbro) since 1935. The game has numerous editions and is sold worldwide, including in South Africa. It is a staple of family game nights and has become a cultural icon.
